Children Home :
In many parts of the world numerous children are abandoned, no one takes care of them, they are forced to live on the streets searching for any means of survival. Others indeed have difficult family situations: parents who are alcoholic, drug addicts or have insufficient means to maintain them. In order to give an education and a future to these children, AMURT has opened numerous children's homes, which are able to offer care and affection to the child in a family atmosphere.
Efforts are on to establish more such children homes in order to protect the future of humanity in a more respectable and positive way.

Neo-Humanist Schools :
The prime necessity for progress of any Nation is literacy. Education for all, especially to lesser fortunates. Ananda Karuna Primary School is in its endeavour to assist these lesser fortune segment has set up a school. The school currently offers Neo- Humanist Education up to middle school to 150 students

This school is a part of a large network of Neo-Humanist schools run throughout the world.

Learning within the Neo-Humanist system becomes a cultural experience. The teacher develops spiritual culture within the classroom, not by lecturing about it but simply by representing it in their own lives: They meditate and follow a moral life style.

This culture is confirmed at the systems level by the whole school meeting to sing and meditate at times throughout the week. Discipline is also premised upon spiritual values, which includes respect for others and one's environment with processes of conflict resolution being used to help students improve behavior and take responsibility for their actions. The culture of schools themselves also act as behavioral modifiers in the lives of children, with the socialization of students into the mores of a Neo-Humanist school being a significant entry into a spiritual life style.

The content of learning is situated in this broad spiritual culture. Creativity and story set the scene for formal learning activities and themselves play a large part in developing the holistic culture characteristic of the Neo-Humanistic classroom. Within this setting mathematics, language, science and social learning become extensions of the total experience of classroom life. They are made meaningful as part of each child's journey towards empowerment within their personal and collective lives. No longer are they discrete disciplines, which often become honorous burdens in a child's life, becoming instead part of the ebb and flow of classroom life, while keeping their own integrity as valid knowledge forms.

Our educational standards are in par with the other local Government run schools. We are continuously striving to improve our standards to match the better-run schools in our area. At a later stage we will transition into implementing the complete concepts of Neo-humanistic education.

Some important aspects of Neo-Humanistic education system are:

>> To develop the full potential of each child: physical, mental and spiritual
>> To awaken a thirst for knowledge and love of learning
>> To equip students with academic and other skills necessary for higher education
>>
To facilitate personal growth in areas such as morality, integrity, self-confidence, self-discipline and co-operation

>> To develop physical well-being and mental capabilities through yoga, concentration techniques, sports and play
>> To develop a sense of aesthetics and appreciation of culture through drama, dance, music, art
>> To encourage students to become active and responsible members of society
>> To promote an awareness of ecology in its broadest sense: i.e. the realization of the inter-relatedness of all things, and to encourage respect and care for all living beings
>> To encourage a universal outlook, free from discrimination based on religion, race, creed or sex
